Bouquet Preservation
When your special day ends, let the memories live on through a beautifully preserved keepsake.
Process & Options
-
While bridal bouquets are the most commonly preserved, I also work with memorial arrangements and any other special flowers you want to hold on to.
-
I can create pressed frames with glass, 3D resin pieces, jewelry, keychains, etc. If you see something in my shop that you like, I can probably make a custom version with your flowers!
What’s included in the price?
The pricing for pressed frames includes the frame and 99% UV protected glass.
Shipping costs, if applicable, are not included and will be added to your final price. If you’re sending your flowers to me, you will need to cover this cost through your shipping provider.
-
Once I receive your flowers, I will either press them or dry them 3-dimensionally. Some flowers need to be deconstructed before pressing, and then reassembled once they’re dry. If any color correction needs to be done, this will happen alongside the reconstructing process. Next comes the design stage, where you’ll receive photos for approval before I start pouring resin or assembling your pressed frame!
Planning Ahead
-
You can book your preservation as soon as you begin your event planning. Please make sure to book at least 3 days before your event; the more time I have to plan for receiving your flowers, the better!
Last-minute bookings (less than 3 days before your event, or after it has already happened) will incur a $50 fee.
-
If you’re in Albuquerque, NM, you can drop them off directly with me at my studio! Otherwise, you can ship them to me, preferably within a day or two of your wedding or event. The sooner the better for the best results! I’ll go over shipping details with you when we coordinate your order.
-
If you’re planning ahead for preservation, here are some suggestions to keep in mind when choosing flowers for your event!
The brighter the better! Vibrant colors look the best when they dry. Neutrals or muted tones can be harder to work with (but color correction can help with this).
Pinks, purples and blues are often great for color retention.
White flowers are the most prone to change, and will often take on a cream, yellow, or brown tone.
Reds usually deepen, and can turn a dark wine color.
Orange often turns pink, especially with roses. Sometimes it can fade more yellow in other flowers.
Yellows often keep their color well while drying, but can sometimes lose vibrancy over time.
Expectations
-
From the drying process to the completion of your final piece, expect it to take about 6 months.
At this time, I’m a one-woman show handling all preservations myself! I try my best to get them done as quickly as I can, but I would rather under-promise and over-deliver than the other way around!
-
In some cases, I will color correct a few of your flowers if they have changed or faded drastically while drying. I prefer to use a light hand with my color correction, to keep the flowers looking as natural as possible.
If necessary or preferred, I can color correct more or all flowers and/or foliage in your bouquet. There will be an extra charge for this, which will be determined after consulting with you first.
-
Some flowers turn a different color during the drying process; for instance, red roses often turn a deep wine color, orange roses can turn pink. White flowers will often take on a cream, yellow or brown tone. Check out the “What flowers are best for preservation” drop-down for more info on colors!
Will the flowers change over time?
Since flowers and foliage are organic materials, there is a possibility for time and sunlight to affect the colors. While resin is highly protective against the elements, and UV glass keeps sun exposure to a minimum, there is no guarantee that your flowers will look the same forever. But that is part of the beauty of these art pieces; just like you and those you share these memories with, the journey through life and time will change them, and the evidence of this change only adds to their story.
